CORONAVIRUS: Telangana government has extended the lockdown in the state till May 29.
Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday announced an extension of the lockdown in the state till May 29, but with relaxations in rural and municipal areas.
Telangana becomes the first state in the country to extend the lockdown beyond May 17 announced by the Centre last week.
At a press conference after the state cabinet meeting, Rao said the public in the state should complete the purchase of all essential items by 6pm and be back home. “There will be a curfew in the state from 7pm. If anyone is found outside, the police will initiate action,” he said.
Telangana state government also decided not to give any relaxations in Hyderabad and five other red zone districts.
The red zone districts in the state are Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Warangal urban, Vikarabad, Suryapet. On 15 May, the state will review the situation in red zone districts.
