Alia Bhatt's ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ set to be recreated post lockdown

Alia Bhatt was to start shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and an elaborated set was also constructed at a studio in Mumbai. But with the lockdown being announced and shoots getting cancelled, the set has not be used since weeks. According to a news portal, SLB has asked the production team to demolition toe set, which illustrated Kamathipura of the 1960s. The report quoted a source as stating that Bhansali had done the payment for the set maintenance but going by the lockdown situation, it was deiced that it would be cheaper to recreate the sets than pay the daily rent and maintenance.

In January, Alia had shared her first look posters of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ on social media. One of the posters featured Alia in dark kohled eyes, sporting a big red bindi, choker and a nose pin - Alia looked like a fearless mafia queen.


‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was scheduled to hit the screens in September this year, however it remains to be seen when the makers will release the film with the shoot being delayed.
